MEET ALEX

Founder & Executive chef

I always had a passion for hosting and culinary delights though my career actually started in Law, in Belgium. I had been around food since I was a child, by way of my mother, who created this mixed culinary environment at home. She learned traditional Italian cooking from my dad, brought her own East African (Ethiopian/Eritrean) heritage and adding the culinary influences of Europe and mostly, the country I was born in – Belgium. She gave me a wide variety of culinary experiences from a very young age.

I believe food is a source of pride and pleasure, it allows people to gather and rejoice and make the most memorable experiences. In Belgium, there is a saying that could be translated into the following “One should stretch all good things in Life so that one can enjoy them for as long as possible”. This certainly applies, every occasion was a reason to gather around the table and feast…

Fast forward a few years and in 2013, I decided to enroll in the Culinary Arts program at the International Culinary Center (f.k.a. The French Culinary Institute) where I solidified my fundamentals in French cuisine. 

In 2016, I started AD Catering + Events with the desire to offer experiences where I could share my culinary journey and influences, all of that prepared with the best ingredients and, of course, Love.
